At Meithrinfa Sêr Bach we are extremely fortunate to have our own bespoke designed kitchens with snack and dining area,’ Ty Bwyta’r Lindysyn Llwglyd Iawn’. All of our staff have passed their food hygiene level 2. All meals and snacks will be prepared in this area with baby’s bottles and drinks being prepared in a designated purpose built area of the kitchen.
Our mealtimes are sociable and fun with the children learning independence skills appropriate to their age.
All food prepared will conform with recommendations in the Welsh Government Food and Health Guidelines for Early Years and Childcare Settings (2009) and all requirements by Environmental Health and the Food Standards Agency.
Meal and snack times are considered extremely important for promoting healthy living values, social opportunities and developing self-help skills. All of our children eat together in a happy, family atmosphere. If necessary children who are in the process of being weaned will be able to eat within the security of the baby room.
All our children have free access to fresh drinking water.
All our children will receive food fun lessons within these areas. These will include:
For our youngest children, sensory cookery lessons and food tasting sessions and
For our older children, cooking lessons and food tasting sessions.
Mothers of our youngest children who are still being breast or bottle fed are welcome to come at their convenience to feed their children within the peace and tranquillity of either our baby room or Ysgubor Hud.
